NYU Campus Safety is focused on maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, 24/7. We employ a large, well-trained corps of campus safety officers who are a highly visible presence across campus and especially in student residence halls. NYU is located in one of the safest areas of New York City, the safest large city in the U.S., and our campus has a reputation for attentiveness to security.

Additionally, free overnight Safe Ride Van Service is operated seven days a week during the academic term, midnight to 5 a.m.

For travel around the rest of the city, students will likely use public transportation. The MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) runs the subway, train, and bus systems.
