“Thanks to my HEAR US pitch mentor, I developed valuable skills for speaking candidly and clearly about my work that I now use to succeed as a self-producing playwright. Through participating in mentorship and cohort meetings, I also learned to think abundantly about the mentorship options available to me."
- Jason Wang ’23 (BFA, Drama), HEAR US 2023

Now in its fifth year, HEAR US is a mentorship and grant program celebrating and advancing innovative and inclusive student projects that bring new perspectives to artistic and scholarly works. Through personalized guidance and funding support, HEAR US strengthens our creative community by investing in unique stories and viewpoints.

The HEAR US program is designed to catalyze a long-term cultural shift by providing one-on-one mentorship for any proposal advancing through the first of two rounds of review and supporting projects at all phases of completion. HEAR US mentors help project leads finalize their budgets, navigate the presentation process, develop clear and compelling ways to communicate their work, and build professional skills that prepare them for future funding opportunities, collaborations, and career advancement.

HEAR US has provided transformative mentorship to over 100 students, awarding $205,240 through 43 grants to graduate and undergraduate students across 11 Tisch departments. This support advances projects at every stage of development, fostering a vibrant creative community and helping powerful new works reach broader audiences.
