Sound, Assistant Arts Professor

NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, Undergraduate Division is searching for a full-time Assistant Arts Professor (non-tenure track) in Sound to begin in September 2025.

Qualifications: Candidates should have an on-going career in audio post-production with experience in production sound mixing desired but not required. A significant body of work on produced narrative films, episodic television and/or streaming platforms. Pro Tools skills are required. While teaching experience at the university level is preferred, the demonstrable capacity to translate one's professional experience into dynamic teaching is also acceptable. Evidence of artistic achievement is also required. In addition to a significant body of professional creative work, the candidate will be prepared to participate fully in the program as well as in other functions of the University, as required. 

Duties include teaching 5 courses per year, mentoring undergraduate students, and participating in departmental and/or school-wide committees and events. Ongoing professional work is encouraged and expected. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Salary, to be negotiated, includes an excellent benefits package.

Screenwriting, Assistant Professor
